I’ve been fought with the previous HP computer for a month before I gave up and returned it to MicroCenter. They did the stand up thing and exchanged it.
Got the new one to the office this morning. Win7 won’t update. Download Win 10, it won’t update. Run Ms FixIt, run trouble shooter, nothing. NOTHING will make Win update.
Call HP ‘support’ They delete a bunch of temp files, turn off a bunch of features, restart it. Not fixed. Then tell me for a nominal fee, I can pay an HP on-site tech to fix it. I can pay extra for to make their shit work like it’s supposed to.
Oh we’re not done! I dig in and get the Win product key. Format the drive and load a Win10 ISO. No keyboard no mouse. I load a Win7Pro ISO. No keyboard no mouse. I load a Win7Home ISO. No keyboard. No mouse.
I load the fucking factory 4-disc recovery DVDs in the drive and guess what starts working again? Fucking cunts at HP suppress mouse if you try to load anything other than their recovery. Fuck them. HP, you can drag your soft tongue through my warm moist...

Grab a usb Keyboard and mouse if you’re currently using the old style ps/2 connector type. That should sort ya right out I’d imagine, unless HP really went out of their way to fuck their end users.
In the past a lot of the components inside hp desktops were proprietary, so you’d find strange shit like the kb and mouse being a part of the modem or video card or some ridiculous thing. Often times replacing the proprietary multi function boards with individual units did the trick... really though, never buying an HP or Compaq computer is the best bet.
Speaking of Compaq, do they even exist anymore? Just realized I hadn’t heard of or thought about them in probably a decade. /ramble

I’ve never had a good HP laptop. The last thing HP made that was quality were the 4200 series printers.
And the Enterprise side of HP is just as inept with their shitty software and revolving door of contract employees.

When that didn’t work, I put on about a 5 year old Dell board and mouse. No change.

Going back to samsung next time. I switched to a desktop from a laptop for more options with my screens. Not worth this headache.
